Not a good thing to say. I know for a fact that Tysha has spent a few nights staring wide eyed at the ceiling with both hands on her belly, probably mentally coaxing Sawyer to put on some poundage! I was grateful to a doctor who said on our last visit that Sawyer was the perfect size for perfectly cute, small Tysha. We definitely don't want Sawyer to be jumbo size. Ugh! I shudder to imagine.
So I'll take my cute wife with half a soccer ball rather than the whole thing. At least for now. I'm sure she's got some more soccer ball growing to come in these last 12 weeks.

Morgan Widhalm is a seventh grade basketball player in the CYBA. This is the story of her last game. Check out a soundslides gathered from pictures sent in by parents! You can find the soundslides presentation by clicking here.
The game started out like almost every other game we play.
We had one player gone, which left us with one sub. Five of us jogged out onto the court, and hurriedly called out which player we had. I chose #4- she looked like a worthy oppenent. Jump ball, I sprung into the air and caught it.
I was amazed I had grabbed it, but quickly turned around, dribbled down to our basket, and made a perfect lay-up. With such an amazing start to the game, I was sure this game was going to turn out great. And I was right.
#4 turned out to be the perfect player for me. She wasnt one of the short, quick types who dribbles around you and leaves you staring after her, but was a pretty good ball handler. She gave me LOTS of practice at guarding under the basket, and I am proud to say she barely ever got a shot in past me. In fact, by the end of the first half, I only had one foul (and those of you who read my other story will know that is quite an improvement)!
Aside from my personal greatness, the rest of my team was doing amazing as well. The score was 29 to 14 at the end of the 1st half, thanks to some quick steals from Kennnedy and amazing accuracy by Allie. At our half-time speech, our coach was extremely proud. He even went so far as to say it was the best game we had played yet. His only criticism was that we needed to rebound more and get aggressive. That was the one area the other team was pounding us at. They were grabbing all the rebounds.
Boy, did Allie and Maggie take that criticism to heart! Allie-who is the tallest person on our team- really stepped up and grabbed some rebounds. And Maggie was getting really aggressive, but not fouling. All was going well, until the middle of the 3rd quarter. We were really pushing it, and the other team was getting desperate.
When Kennnedy stole the ball, and went streaking down the court, one of the other girls was right behind her. She neared the basket, and right as she was about to shoot, there came a gasp from the crowd. For the other girl had rammed into her, and Kennedy was smashed against the wall.
Oh, she turned around and apologized right away, but you could have seen the anger in her eyes before she had slammed into Kennedy, and known that she had meant to do that.
Despite that disconcerting incident, Kennedy played on. She had played all through the game so far, and kept going. By the end of the game, she had not subbed at all. But she had still played amazingly, and the score reflected that. For we had beaten them, and by a wide margin.
But the best part happened not when we had won, but on the car ride home from the game.
My dad usually comments on my game on the ride home, but all he had to say this time was, You did good. As I basked in his praise, I knew I still had a lot to learn about basketball, but I also knew that I was getting better and better every game.

On Sunday I took my wife to watch Wigan Athletic-Arsenal at the JJB Stadium, Wigan, and I purely went so that I could watch one of the best teams in the country (no Latic fans I am not referring to your beloved club).
The tickets were only £20 a piece, and recently I seem to have picked up cheap tickets from clubs in the Northwest in Bolton-A. Madrid/Sporting (£10 a ticket on each occasion), Everton-Fiorentina £25 a ticket etc, and I can not grumble one bit. The price of tickets is besides the point, and it is club mascots which I want to enquire about in relation to Wigan Athletic.
My local football club, Preston North End, have a duck as their mascot, and it is called Deepdale Duck. Obviously Deepdale as that is the name of the ground, and they have used duck to make an alliteration (best include a link of the definition). Likewise I noticed that Bolton Wanderers used the same method in Lofty the Lion, and several other clubs have used this method.
Other clubs have used a mascot in relation to their nickname like Buzz Bee at Brentford or Gilbert the Gull at Torquay United, and some clubs even use a mascot in relation to their club logo like Olly the Ox at Oxford United or Olly the Owl at Sheffield Wednesday.
However on Sunday whilst my wife admired Cesc Fàbregas (and not just for his football skills may I add), I watched two strange characters waltz around the JJB (and I do not mean any of the footballers), and wondered what on earth the Wigan Atheltic mascots were or represented. Could any Latic fans clear this up for me?
Soccer Manager would like to know which football club mascots you find the most amusing or bizarre in relation to their respective clubs.

Rotogod here. The draft for the first inaugural Catfish Hunter Invitational, a 30-team fantasy baseball league that requires 25 player teams in a draft format. There is also an $85,000,000 payroll that is based on 2007 salaries, so not only is every regular in major league baseball is selected, every reserve is as well.
The positions taken: C (2), 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF (5), UTL (1-3), P (11-13)
I went in with a set strategy: to draft two starting catchers rather than a starter and a reserve and five starting outfielders rather than three. As such, my middle infield is weak, but I have starters at least. As far as pitching, I spend quite a bit of money on mediocre pitchers with salaries between 3-9 million. I may not win ERA, but through sheer volume, I should compete in strikeouts and wins. I tried to draft based on expected value, rather than being too cost conscious and I still found myself blowing money on Matt Morris in the end.
Here is my team in order of selection and salary. It is a keeper league where five players are kept from year to year and those players I anticipate keeping have stars next to their names.

A friend just sent me a link to this site called PurePlay. You can win money playing poker, but you dont have to deposit any of your own money, which means that it is legal to do. How is this possible? I havent downloaded the application, but I suspect that the format is similar to freerolls that are offered in online poker rooms. I used to play in these freerolls, and I think that they are good for beginners, because you get some real experience playing with players who have some skills and take the game seriously. You cant win much if you place in the money, and the odds of doing this arent particularly good. I never won any money. It is definitely better to play in freerolls than to play for play money, but not by much. So give it a try, but expect to be bored in short time.

Hey Al Stan:
How do you stand on the Pronger suspension? I was outraged by what was said on VS last night by their commentators. The suspension is justified because: 1. The incident has occurred at the end of the season (prior to playoffs)instead of early in the season and would affect the playoff picture because the team happens to be the defending Cup champs 2. It was committed by a star player, instead of Simon the goon; Pronger has had many suspensions and is a dirty player 3. Watch the tape in real time they said, you can see that it was not malicious like the Simon incident, just that he was tangled up with the player in the corner trying to get away from him
I am outraged by what was said! This is not called for in hockey. He should get more time on the suspension. So because he is a star player and in the playoff hunt for the Cup, let him slide. The league has to crack down on this behavior and really stop the nonsense of hits to the head as well.
Thanks guys.

Hockey is a very physical sport. Throughout a game, a player can get dozens of body checks left and right from the opposing team. If you are curious about trying out this sport, then it is very important that you have the right gear that will protect you from injuries. Getting the best hockey equipment can optimize your playing skills as well. Here are some tips on what you should look for in hockey equipment.
Skates
Hockey skates are essential to have when playing hockey. They are different from your typical ice skates. Unlike those you use in ice skating, the boots in hockey skates are made of molded plastic. When choosing the best hockey boots, one must look for the ones that use synthetic leather or ballistic nylons for the upper boot.

I received the following question on now confusing topic of Baseball Rookie Cards.
How do Rookie Cards work these days? I know there was clairification a few years back. If the card doesnt say Rookie Card on it does it make it a rookie? Can it be someone who played the season ie Jesse Litsch, he played the season but he was a rookie last year and he didnt have any rookie card issued. Where is his rookie?s tackle this question with a higher profile player, the New York Yankees Philip Hughes. Now the question outlines one of the problems going on currently in the baseball card market. The MLBPAs service regulations set down in 2006 define what they think is a rookie card. This is a card that includes a rookie card logo, which can be seen in the bottom right hand corner on this card.

The other night my son asked my husband and I if we had heard of bunny poker. I really had not but thought it had to do with play boy bunnies and such but was no going to toss that out there and look stupid if I was wrong!
My husband got quiet and told my 8 year old son it is just a name for poker during spring break when it falls so close to Easter. He nodded his head and went on his way. I asked him if that was true and he told me not to act like an 8 year old and explained that free online bunny poker is a downloadable strip poker game.
I got up wondering how he knew about it when I heard my son in the other room tell his friend on the phone that “it is safe to play at our house because my parents are clueless.
