August 10th, 2008
Maybe 10 or 12 days ago I came close to my first $100 razz pot. It totalled $102.75, but then PokerStars took out a $3 rake, and I was left with a $99.75 reward. Close but no cigar. I had to wait until today to get one officially, and it was well over that threshold--$130 after rake. Probably would have gone even higher if one of them hadn't been disconnected during the hand. (Highly suspicious of an intentional self-disconnect there, if you ask me--suspicious enough, in fact, that I reported it to Stars to see if the same player has a history of such conduct.)
I have to give credit for the assist to the player in Seat 6, whose name and avatar I have blotted out in the screen shot above, and whose name I have playfully changed in the hand history below. He helped me cap the multi-way betting all along, while the other players, without his raises, would have just called me. In fact, his play was sufficiently atrocious and suspicious that one of the losing participants accused us in the chat box, after the hand, of having colluded. He was dead serious. He might even report it to the site. I can certainly see, in retrospect, why an opponent would view this as a possible classic trapping play, in which he was the victim. I'm not worried about an investigation, though, since there were no such shenanigans--just a desperately hopeful player on a draw to what would have been a good hand, had he gotten there.
Nevertheless, his play--raising and reraising, when calling until he hit would have probably been smarter--was awful enough that I'm shielding his name both to spare him embarrassment and to help keep him my little donating secret! I will be looking him up when I'm online.

Note that he called on the river with a K-Q-9 low. The only way he could win at that point was if my three down cards were all pairs or at least no better than K-Q. But I had not even once played--let alone shown down--any starting hand that was not three unpaired cards 7 or lower (except in a couple of steals, which this obviously wasn't), so for him to think he might be good in this spot was, well, pretty freakin' desperate.
Between my own personal Donator, some other nice hands, and a series of hero calls on the river that nearly all proved to be correct, it turned out to be a +$186 razz day, in about three hours of play, again while I was doing other computer work and paying attention only when I had a playable hand.
Time now to go out into the world and see if I can find a comparable Donator in the casinos!
By the way, I really wish I knew of an online hand replayer for stud/razz hands. The only ones I know of work only for hold'em and/or Omaha hands. It would be much cooler to be able to embed an animation or direct you to a site to see the hand play out than posting these boring text-only hand histories. If any reader knows of a web site with a stud/razz hand replaying feature, please leave a comment about it.

“The world is saved–they just dont know it yet” is the message that caused Bishop Carlton Pearson to fall out of grace with Christendom. Many look at the once popular televangelist, who pastored the mega church Higher Dimensions Ministry, as a heretic. During a recent conversation with Pearson, he talked about his message and his book, entitled The Gospel of Inclusion.
ER: What is the Gospel of Inclusion?
CP: The Gospel of Inclusion is that God was in Christ reconciling the worldnot counting mens sins against them. The whole comos, the whole cosmetic makeup of the human race, has been redeemed through Christ. They dont know. Its our jobs as Christian evangelists to give them that wonderful news that their sins are forgiven.
ER: Did it all happen at the cross?
CP: It all happened at the cross, and our job has been as Christians to tell the people that your sins have been forgiven, and youve been redeemed by the blood of Christ, and you are on your way to heaven. So stop acting out hell and creating it for others. You are on your way to an eternal place with Christ because Christ paid for your sins, atoned for your sins, bought and brought you back to God!
ER: Where and how did you get this revelation?
CP: It actually came to me when I was putting some of my loved ones in hell for years. My grandparents had been there for years. I am from a four-generation classical Pentecostal background where we sent just about everybody, including Baptists, to hell or anybody who is not Pentecostal. And I didnt figure that my love for them would be any greater than Gods. And so I couldnt reconcile putting them in a customized torture chambercalled hell.
ER: Do we need to repent?
CP: No. The word, “repent” means to rethink. It doesnt mean to say Im sorry. I am preaching repentance, but I am asking Christians and everybody to rethink what we believe and why we believe it. Lets reconsider, change the thinking about everything. When we do thatwe do feel certain remorse for our arrogance, our ignorance and our sins. But we dont dismiss ourselves and everybody else to this horrible inferno, which is basically historical superstition. Jesus never even used the word “hell.” He used the word “Gehinnom,” which means Valley of Henna. We have been preaching hell, and were so devoted to hell and the devil until we could be worshipping him. That whole concept has crippled the planet and justified hatred, violence, unforgiveness and intolerance. The fundamentalists are war-mongers. They may not be whoremongers, but they are war-mongers, based on an image of a God whos hateful. God judges with love, not with punitive hatred.
ER: Are you the only one preaching this message?
CP: Oh no-oh my goodness. The first 500 years of Christian history was the general consensus of the people. All of the church followers embraced it, and many of the apostles did. But when the church went from the East to the West, it began to change. I respect the Holy Roman Empire, but they began to shift the emphasis away from universalism to doctrinal exclusionism. When you say Roman Catholic, you mean Vatican. When you say Catholic, that means universal expression.
Now there are all kinds of people embracing it. There are about 40 million New Thought Christians in America who embrace what I teach…I didnt know of them of course. I wouldnt listen to them. I would send them straight to hell. I tried to cast demons out of these Unitarians and Universalists for years, and now Im one of them. But I believe in the finished work of the cross. Jesus said, “It is finished.” Redemption is complete. People dont know it, and many Christians dont believe it. So, I had to say ‘Wait folks, you quote Him as saying It is finished. He didnt just say, ‘Im finished dying.’ He said, ‘Im finished redeeming.’ So go tell them that they are redeemed. Go tell them that God loves them and redeemed them. Its almost too good to be true. Pearsons book is available wherever books are sold. Also, Pearson will be speaking once a month at Christ Universal Temple through October.

All sports fight for the "dollars",funding is a crucial element of any sporting organization. One of the biggest hurdle is spending the "money" in area's that will increase 1.Participation and 2.Making your sport a success on a National and International scale. An even balance must be achieved never forgetting the grass route levels but also spending the money correctly at the top also. One of the wealthiest national body's are the LTA
England and they have been under achievers for many years considering the amount of funds they have in the "coffers".Not long ago, Brad Gilbert was paid a reputed 750,000 a year by the LTA to coach Andy Murray, making him the only player on the ATP Tour to have his coach paid for by a nations governing body. The all star coaching team amassed by the LTA goes beyond Gilbert. There is Paul Annacone, the former coach to Pete Sampras and Tim Henman; Carl Maes, who guided Kim Clijsters to the top of the womens game; Nigel Sears, an Englishman who has worked with Amanda Coetzer and Daniela Hantuchova; Steve Martens, the former Belgium Davis Cup captain; Jens Gerlach, coach to Anastasia Myskina when she won the French Open; and Martin Bohm, who once worked with many of the top Swedes and Greg Rusedski.Educated guesses are that the LTA are spending 2.5m a year at the top end and very little at the bottom end. What Tennis New Zealand could do with that sort of money it equates to over $6 million nz. Tony Hawks a journalist has led recently through the newspaper a push highlighting the need for money to be spent wisely and more evenly through the system. You can read his articles at and also .Here in New Zealand junior players wanting to succeed at tennis face a huge financial commitment.A promising junior with a high national ranking in New Zealand can expect to be facing a budget such as this.Equipment:includes rackets, shoes, balls, and attire $1000 Coaching:includes lessons,Fitness training and camps $7280
Competition:includes travel, hotel and entry fee's $8650 so a yearly total is around $16,930.00. Elite juniors face these figures, and the fact is that too get better Tennis players at this level cannot do it just in New Zealand itself.I'm sure that if funding was available more players at this level would stay in the sport and improve New Zealands World standing. At the moment for a junior wanting to do well internationally in New Zealand the "Key to success" is dollars. Your comments would be appreciated .

We should also warn you that one job listing on the pagesays that the start date is in 2006. We hope that this is a result of a careless copy-paste job, but we have no way of knowing how recently all of these internships were posted (most of them look up to date though). We couldnt find much information on what its like to work for Audubon, but it probably varies widely depending on location. If youre a birder, and youre looking for a non-profit Fall internship, figure out which of the above is most appealing and apply! The contact information varies depending on the internship, but you are expected to apply by e-mailing a cover letter and resume. Most of the internships are paid some sort of stipend or hourly wage, although the pay is very modest. A few of the other position listings seem to have no mention of whether they are paid or not.

Two Area Code Teams Stay Unbeaten
The Brewers Blue team, quite frankly, is expected to do well this week at Blair Field. The Rangers, on the other hand, have been on a roll after a mediocre performance last year. The 20th and final game on Sunday could be a showdown of undefeated clubs, but obviously there is still a lot of baseball to be played before that. Other Thursday highlights include a Washington Nationals outfielder that hit for the cycle in the nightcap.
Milwaukee Brewers Gray 5, Oakland As 2
The Milwaukee Brewers Gray club developed a small case of stage fright in their Wednesday evening game and early Thursday morning they attempted to get off the snide against the Oakland As, a team comprised of players from Florida and the Southeast. Unfortunately for Milwaukee, the gloves again allowed the opponent a gift run early. It wasnt until the fifth inning that Milwaukee Gray club (Northern and Southern California players) could overcome its early demons at Area Code to pull out the win.

Anything better then crushing a fledging democracy in your sphere of influence? Crushing that fledging democracy DURING THE OLYMPICS. Ah yeah.
Now, I realized this morning that NBC is starting coverage @ 6 AM on BOTH MSNBC (non-HD) USA(HD). Those slots run 6 AM to 2 PM. NBC starts at 10 AM to 6 PM. I'm DVRin the USA HD. My goal is to see every sport for at least five minutes.
Here is my fantasy olympics game, everyone can play. One point for each event seen. One point for every country. Three points for any country under 100K in population. One point for seeing a profile piece on a u.s. athelete, three points for a profile of a non-American athlete. That's it!!!
Checklist 8/9/8:
WOMEN'S WEIGHTLIFTING: Saw the 46KG(?) Women's class. They were performing the "snatch." Weightlifting has two events, the snatch the clean and jerk. The weightlifter for Thailand had hara-juku style berrets all in her hair. The chinese weightlifter ending up winning but I learned that last night via the NYTImes, not by watching the sport. COUNTRIES: Turkey, China, Thailand, Taiwan (5 points)
MEN'S BADMINTON: I watched a guy from Poland play a guy from Estonia. I'm down with Badminton, I'll sit there and watch it for 15-20 minutes- at least until commerical. I'd like to see the men's final, but not so much the prelims. (3 points)
WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: NBC is leading with US v. Japan in women's volleyball. Suggestion: follow with beach volleyball? Maybe on USA today? (3 points)
Points so far today: 11.
