Interesting question that was posed to my group about whether we should continue with print ads? Varied replies came across my screen. Some yes and some no. I took a pretty direct line of response. I believe we still need print ads. I would agree that over the last three years, we have seen the effectiveness of them generating leads go to zip and zero.
About two years ago....I began to use them to drive traffic to Opens and to dedicated websites for my listings and my business. I rarely get calls from my ads, but I do get business. 30% of my business came from my Opens last year and 50% so far this year. I would not be getting the traffic to the Opens or the websites if I was not running the print ads.
I'm generating showings for my listings both on the internet and with my Opens. I've double-ended one of my listings this year which accounts for the higher stats for this year. Other agents are not out there showing and by generating leads from the web and getting clients in to see my listings, I am netting results for my clients. You have to work harder in this market. Internet marketing is key and so are Opens.
Will we need print ads three years from now....I would guess so....but who knows. There are people who like to read that Sunday paper and look at all the retail ads and go to Open Houses on Sunday! The local newspaper is really only a distribution mechanism for these retail marketers, however it does also provide a source for that Open House hunter on the weekends.
I'm for keeping the print ad for now. It's paying off for me....but then I have something to drive traffic to....do you?

![CDATA[So often we have in our head the type of man we want. By the time weve graduated form college and head into the real world weve perfected our list of must-haves: tall, dark handsome, educated, ambitious, successful or headed in that direction.etc. But what happens when the love we were looking for turns out to look quite differently then the love that finds us?
Currently I find myself in an (almost) relationship with someone who is (almost) nothing like the man I see myself with. Hes not my physical ideal. Hes way to young and his choice of profession leaves a lot to be desired. But hes sweet, funny and is more emotionally mature then men Ive dated that were ten years his senior. Even with all of his good qualities I still have a hard time admitting to myself that I like him. I dont believe that all relationships have to end in marriage or that just because you like (love) someone means that is the person you should be with. Love is but one of many factors that have to be considered but hes just so different from what I would choose for myself.
It was all an accident how we ended up (sorta) together to begin with but what was supposed to be causal turned into a lot more and Im still wringing my hands about it. Arguably this is the most relaxed Ive been with anyone in a long time. Minus a few initial bumps the relationship is drama free. He makes me laugh, I enjoy his company and the sex is goodyet I keep asking myself, What are you doing with him? Im sure Im not the only one who has found herself in this situation.
I think as women, we sometimes get so wrapped up in what our idea of Mr. Right is that we miss out on an actual Mr. Right that may waltz into out lives. I know I find myself in strange territory. I havent been seriously involved with someone in a few years at the earliest and that lasted a few months. And yet here I am, tiptoeing my way into a relationship with caution and my eyes wide open with a man I had determined wasnt getting any and, once we crossed that barrier, was just going to be a causal relationship, all at a time in my life when I definitely wasnt looking for love.
Maybe thats the problem. Sometimes were just looking to hard. Sometimes, just maybe, we should stop looking for love and let love find us.

A couple hot poker topics this week have been, of course, WinStar, and Scotty Nguyens less than stellar behavior and etiquette in the $50k WSOP HORSE event, as seen on ESPN. Pauly (who actually watched this final table live) assures me a lot of this persona came in the editing yeah, he was drunk and rude for awhile, but then he sobered up and played like a winner and indeed, I remember thinking similarly as the day progressed was rooting for Nguyen definitely didnt want a newbie like Michael DeMichele to win $50k Friggin HORSE! But after watching the episode(s) this week, I gotta say was totally rooting for DeMichele, even though I knew he probably didnt stand a chance.
Anyhow, point being just wondering if a (bad) performance like Scottys could jeopardize his relationship with the Cherokee Casino in Tulsa, where he has hosted the biggest events in North-North Texas prior to the current River tourney at WinStar. I am like a god in Oklahoma, he has said. They have my picture on billboard.
Not saying one incident will but wondering if it might. Because after all, there was a reason they chose him back in the day because everyone loves Scotty Nguyen, baby! But now thats clearly not the case.

Read the following, pretty lengthy article from Mr Wang. It is a humourous article that is pretty spot on, not written by Mr Wang though, but his friend Adrian Tan, who if you all know, is the author of the Teenage Textbook and Teenage Workbook. This article was first used as a speech by AT on NTUs school of Communication and Informations convocation ceremony. Pretty insightful and is in line with the trend of the inspirational stuff that I am putting up on my blog, to keep myself inspired of course.
Well the main pondering point of this article for me is whether work is a choice? Do you choose to work in your current job? Why are you working what you are working as now? Whatever your choice is though, I think most importantly, you have to follow your heart, be happy with whatever you have and be purposeful in life. Shall not write too much, enjoy the article in full.. I love it.
Life and How to Survive It
I must say thank you to the faculty and staff of the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information for inviting me to give your convocation address. Its a wonderful honour and a privilege for me to speak here for ten minutes without fear of contradiction, defamation or retaliation. I say this as a Singaporean and more so as a husband.
My wife is a wonderful person and perfect in every way except one. She is the editor of a magazine. She corrects people for a living. She has honed her expert skills over a quarter of a century, mostly by practising at home during conversations between her and me.
On the other hand, I am a litigator. Essentially, I spend my day telling people how wrong they are. I make my living being disagreeable.
Nevertheless, there is perfect harmony in our matrimonial home. That is because when an editor and a litigator have an argument, the one who triumphs is always the wife.
And so I want to start by giving one piece of advice to the men: when youve already won her heart, you dont need to win every argument.
Marriage is considered one milestone of life. Some of you may already be married. Some of you may never be married. Some of you will be married. Some of you will enjoy the experience so much, you will be married many, many times. Good for you.
The next big milestone in your life is today: your graduation. The end of education. Youre done learning.
Youve probably been told the big lie that Learning is a lifelong process and that therefore you will continue studying and taking masters degrees and doctorates and professorships and so on. You know the sort of people who tell you that? Teachers. Dont you think there is some measure of conflict of interest? They are in the business of learning, after all. Where would they be without you? They need you to be repeat customers.
The good news is that theyre wrong.
The bad news is that you dont need further education because your entire life is over. It is gone. That may come as a shock to some of you. Youre in your teens or early twenties. People may tell you that you will live to be 70, 80, 90 years old. That is your life expectancy.
I love that term: life expectancy. We all understand the term to mean the average life span of a group of people. But Im here to talk about a bigger idea, which is what you expect from your life.
You may be very happy to know that Singapore is currently ranked as the country with the third highest life expectancy. We are behind Andorra and Japan, and tied with San Marino. It seems quite clear why people in those countries, and ours, live so long. We share one thing in common: our football teams are all hopeless. Theres very little danger of any of our citizens having their pulses raised by watching us play in the World Cup. Spectators are more likely to be lulled into a gentle and restful nap.
Singaporeans have a life expectancy of 81.8 years. Singapore men live to an average of 79.21 years, while Singapore women live more than five years longer, probably to take into account the additional time they need to spend in the bathroom.
So here you are, in your twenties, thinking that youll have another 40 years to go. Four decades in which to live long and prosper.
Bad news. Read the papers. There are people dropping dead when theyre 50, 40, 30 years old. Or quite possibly just after finishing their convocation. They would be very disappointed that they didnt meet their life expectancy.
Im here to tell you this. Forget about your life expectancy.
After all, its calculated based on an average. And you never, ever want to expect being average.
Revisit those expectations. You might be looking forward to working, falling in love, marrying, raising a family. You are told that, as graduates, you should expect to find a job paying so much, where your hours are so much, where your responsibilities are so much.
That is what is expected of you. And if you live up to it, it will be an awful waste.
If you expect that, you will be limiting yourself. You will be living your life according to boundaries set by average people. I have nothing against average people. But no one should aspire to be them. And you dont need years of education by the best minds in Singapore to prepare you to be average.
What you should prepare for is mess. Lifes a mess. You are not entitled to expect anything from it. Life is not fair. Everything does not balance out in the end. Life happens, and you have no control over it. Good and bad things happen to you day by day, hour by hour, moment by moment. Your degree is a poor armour against fate.
Dont expect anything. Erase all life expectancies. Just live. Your life is over as of today. At this point in time, you have grown as tall as you will ever be, you are physically the fittest you will ever be in your entire life and you are probably looking the best that you will ever look. This is as good as it gets. It is all downhill from here. Or up. No one knows.
What does this mean for you? It is good that your life is over.
Since your life is over, you are free. Let me tell you the many wonderful things that you can do when you are free.
The most important is this: do not work.
Work is anything that you are compelled to do. By its very nature, it is undesirable.
Work kills. The Japanese have a term , which means death from overwork. Thats the most dramatic form of how work can kill. But it can also kill you in more subtle ways. If you work, then day by day, bit by bit, your soul is chipped away, disintegrating until theres nothing left. A rock has been ground into sand and dust.
Theres a common misconception that work is necessary. You will meet people working at miserable jobs. They tell you they are making a living. No, theyre not. Theyre dying, frittering away their fast-extinguishing lives doing things which are, at best, meaningless and, at worst, harmful.
People will tell you that work ennobles you, that work lends you a certain dignity. Work makes you free. The slogan Arbeit macht frei was placed at the entrances to a number of Nazi concentration camps. Utter nonsense.
Do not waste the vast majority of your life doing something you hate so that you can spend the small remainder sliver of your life in modest comfort. You may never reach that end anyway.
Resist the temptation to get a job. Instead, play. Find something you enjoy doing. Do it. Over and over again. You will become good at it for two reasons: you like it, and you do it often. Soon, that will have value in itself.
I like arguing, and I love language. So, I became a litigator. I enjoy it and I would do it for free. If I didnt do that, I wouldve been in some other type of work that still involved writing fiction - probably a sports journalist.
So what should you do? You will find your own niche. I dont imagine you will need to look very hard. By this time in your life, you will have a very good idea of what you will want to do. In fact, Ill go further and say the ideal situation would be that you will not be able to stop yourself pursuing your passions. By this time you should know what your obsessions are. If you enjoy showing off your knowledge and feeling superior, you might become a teacher.
Find that pursuit that will energise you, consume you, become an obsession. Each day, you must rise with a restless enthusiasm. If you dont, you are working.
Most of you will end up in activities which involve communication. To those of you I have a second message: be wary of the truth. Im not asking you to speak it, or write it, for there are times when it is dangerous or impossible to do those things. The truth has a great capacity to offend and injure, and you will find that the closer you are to someone, the more care you must take to disguise or even conceal the truth. Often, there is great virtue in being evasive, or equivocating. There is also great skill. Any child can blurt out the truth, without thought to the consequences. It takes great maturity to appreciate the value of silence.
In order to be wary of the truth, you must first know it. That requires great frankness to yourself. Never fool the person in the mirror.
I have told you that your life is over, that you should not work, and that you should avoid telling the truth. I now say this to you: be hated.
Its not as easy as it sounds. Do you know anyone who hates you? Yet every great figure who has contributed to the human race has been hated, not just by one person, but often by a great many. That hatred is so strong it has caused those great figures to be shunned, abused, murdered and in one famous instance, nailed to a cross.
One does not have to be evil to be hated. In fact, its often the case that one is hated precisely because one is trying to do right by ones own convictions. It is far too easy to be liked, one merely has to be accommodating and hold no strong convictions. Then one will gravitate towards the centre and settle into the average. That cannot be your role. There are a great many bad people in the world, and if you are not offending them, you must be bad yourself. Popularity is a sure sign that you are doing something wrong.
The other side of the coin is this: fall in love.
I didnt say be loved. That requires too much compromise. If one changes ones looks, personality and values, one can be loved by anyone.
Rather, I exhort you to love another human being. It may seem odd for me to tell you this. You may expect it to happen naturally, without deliberation. That is false. Modern society is anti-love. Weve taken a microscope to everyone to bring out their flaws and shortcomings. It far easier to find a reason not to love someone, than otherwise. Rejection requires only one reason. Love requires complete acceptance. It is hard work - the only kind of work that I find palatable.
Loving someone has great benefits. There is admiration, learning, attraction and something which, for the want of a better word, we call happiness. In loving someone, we become inspired to better ourselves in every way. We learn the truth worthlessness of material things. We celebrate being human. Loving is good for the soul.
Loving someone is therefore very important, and it is also important to choose the right person. Despite popular culture, love doesnt happen by chance, at first sight, across a crowded dance floor. It grows slowly, sinking roots first before branching and blossoming. It is not a silly weed, but a mighty tree that weathers every storm.
You will find, that when you have someone to love, that the face is less important than the brain, and the body is less important than the heart.
You will also find that it is no great tragedy if your love is not reciprocated. You are not doing it to be loved back. Its value is to inspire you.
Finally, you will find that there is no half-measure when it comes to loving someone. You either dont, or you do with every cell in your body, completely and utterly, without reservation or apology. It consumes you, and you are reborn, all the better for it.
Dont work. Avoid telling the truth. Be hated. Love someone.
Youre going to have a busy life. Thank goodness theres no life expectancy.

C.B.C. Distribution and Marketing, Inc. v. Major League Baseball Advanced Media, L.P., et al.
F.3d , 2007 WL 2990366, 84 U.S.P.Q.2d 1328 (8th Cir. 2007)
In a much watched case, on October 16, 2007, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit decided C.B.C. Distribution and Marketing, Inc. v. Major League Baseball Advanced Media, L.P., et al., regarding whether it is ok for fantasy sports operators to use professional athletes’ names and historical statistics without a license from the players, the players association and/or the relevant league. In this case, the sport is baseball, but the ruling can be applied across the board to any fantasy sports league. In this case, the Eighth Circuit held that C.B.C. Distribution and Marketing, Inc. (“CBC”), a provider of online fantasy baseball products, could use the names of and statistics of Major League Baseball (“MLB”) players without a license from Major League Baseball Advanced Media, L.P. (“Advanced Media”), a MLB holding company to whom The Major League Baseball Players Association (“the Players Association”) had granted the exclusive right “to use baseball players’ names and performance information ‘for exploitation via all interactive media.’” Slip. Op. at 3. MLB and Advanced Media unsuccessfully argued that CBC’s use of player names and statistics was a violation of the players’ rights of publicity, copyright infringement, and breach of contract, among other theories. The court held that the fantasy sports operators actions were protected under the First Amendment.
In 1995, the Players Association first granted CBC a license to use the names of MLB players and their corresponding statistics in fantasy baseball games. In 2002, the Players Association granted CBC a renewed license, which gave CBC the rights to use “the names, nicknames, likenesses, signatures, pictures, playing records, and/or biographical data of each player” in connection with CBC’s fantasy baseball products. Slip. Op. at 3. When this renewed license expired in 2005, however, the Players Association did not grant CBC another renewed license. Instead, the Players Association granted the exclusive right “to use baseball players’ names and performance information ‘for exploitation via all interactive media’” to Advanced Media (the MLB holding company mentioned above). Id. After Advanced Media received this exclusive license from the Players Association, it approached CBC and proposed a license under which CBC could promote fantasy baseball games on MLB.com, but could not continue offering its own fantasy baseball products. CBC subsequently brought this declaratory judgment lawsuit, seeking a court decree that it could continue to use the names of and statistics related to MLB players without a license from Advanced Media.
At issue in this case was whether MLB could exercise exclusive control over the fantasy baseball business by limiting others’ access to factual player information (i.e., names and statistics). In order to exercise this control, MLB, acting through the Players Association and Advanced Media, tried to establish that CBC’s use of the names of MLB players and their corresponding statistics violated rights of publicity, was copyright infringement, and was a breach of the previous licensing contract. At the trial court level, MLB argued that CBC was violating the baseball players’ individual rights of publicity, which are protected under state law (Missouri state law in this case, pursuant to federal jurisdictional rules). Although the trial court held that MLB failed to establish these state-law rights, the Eighth Circuit reversed this determination and found that state-law rights of publicity were implicated. However, the Eighth Circuit further held that First Amendment considerations (i.e., the “right to use information that is available to everyone”) trumped these state-law rights. Significantly, in deciding that these state-law rights “must give way” to First Amendment considerations, the Eighth Circuit characterized the baseball players’ names and their corresponding statistics as information that is “readily available in the public domain.” Slip. Op. at 7. Because MLB (or anyone else for that matter) cannot exercise exclusive control over information in the public domain, the Eighth Circuit affirmed the trial court’s judgment in favor of CBC, thus allowing CBC to continue using MLB players’ names and statistics without a license.
(Earlier in the case, MLB and Advanced Media also tried to argue that the use of player names and statistics was an infringement of one or more copyrights owned by MLB. MLB argued that it owned a copyright in the compilation of names and statistics. The court didn’t buy it and indicated that the names and statistics were public domain factual information.)
So for those of you running your own fantasy sports sites (or at least fantasy baseball sites), the decision in this case means that you can make use of the same information as CBC (i.e., player names and statistics) without obtaining a license from the relevant professional sports league. However, you should still consult a lawyer regarding your particular situation, because the ruling in this case involves some complicated interactions between state and federal law, and perhaps could have been decided differently by a different court with respect to the rights of publicity issues.

Well, Ive been overdosing on the Olympics lately. I hadnt even intended to watch much of themI *thought* I wasnt that interested, and I didnt know the names of any athletes who would be competing other than Michael Phelps and Dara Torres. But these Beijing games have captivated me, particularly the swimming, the womens gymnastics, and some of the track and field events. As I write, Im watching the medal ceremony for the final gymnastics event of the gamesthe womens balance beamwhere two American young ladies stand at the #1 and #2 spots on the podium. The beam proved to be sweet success at last for the cheerful Shawn Johnson, who had previously won 3 silver medals (in the team competition, all-around, and floor exercise)and she sure deserved the gold this time. Watching these gymnasts on the beam always makes me hold my breathhow in the world they can do handless somersaults in the air and land on one foot on a 4-inch wide beam without completely losing their nerve is beyond me. And Ive got to recognize Nastia Liukin, Shawns American teammate, who won the ultimate prize in womens gymnastics, the All-Around championship (contended over all 4 gymnastics events, the beam, vault, floor exercise, and uneven bars). She is as graceful as a ballerina and was a joy to watch. Following womens gymnastics this Olympics has taken me back to my childhood, when I used to watch, wonder, and get desperately emotionally involved in my favorite gymnasts (usually the Americans in their duels against the powerhouse Russians of the 90s).
And then, of course, theres Michael Phelps. What can i say that hasnt already been said? His feat (a never-before-achieved 8 golds in a single Olympics) is epic. Im talking Achilles, Odysseus, the stuff of legends. Over the course of his eight competitions, he had both dominant performancessetting world records in 7 of the swimsand close calls which were even more thrilling. In the 100m butterfly, in a finish that has since been endlessly replayed and dissected by freeze frame, Phelps won by the length of a pencil eraser. It didnt even look to the spectators eye, watching the race live, like he wonbut he got his fingertips to the wall in a last-second herculean effort to win by one one-hundredth of a second. To keep his historic streak alive. It was pure drama that I didnt even realize swimming was capable of! Now his quest (these Olympic commentators love the word in fact, they love Classical allusions in general, which I suppose is appropriate given the Ancient Greek origins of the Olympics) is over, and he can relax, give a bunch of interviews, and get about the business of deciding which endorsement deals to accept.
There are plenty more storylines to these Olympic games; these are just the ones Ive followed most closely. Any favorite events or moments for you guys.

SWEDEN - A day after PokerTrillion announced a successful seizure of Boss Media assets in Macau valued at US$30 million, the Swedish online gaming software provider and poker network operator strongly refuted the claims by its former customer.
In a message posted on its site, Boss Media asserted that it had terminated PokerTrillion from the IPN (Boss Medias poker network) following the poker rooms alleged rakeback violations. It goes on to inform players and other licensees that funds are held separately from what PokerTrillion asserted as seized assets and that there is no disruption of service while the company explores its legal options.
Full statement of the refutal follows:
Poker Trillion’s recent comments are a reckless attempt to support a legal action that is without merit and initiated as retribution for their dismissal from the Boss Media network. To be clear, player funds are not affected by the current proceedings. All players’ funds are held separately under the control of the Malta Lotteries and Gaming Authority and cannot be seized by any court.
Poker Trillion is a former customer of Boss Media who was terminated because of rake back violations. They have since then repeatedly tried to disrupt the Boss Media business through the dissemination of groundless rumors. In April 2008 Poker Trillion alleged in a press release a claim that among other things, Boss Media player funds were frozen. The allegations were false but typical of the type of tactics employed by Poker Trillion.
While there has been no hearing on the merits of the Poker Trillion suit, there have been preliminary hearings on the matter. Boss Media has assured that adequate security is provided in Malta in the event of an award of damages against it which we believe to be unlikely.
Boss Media is currently exploring various legal options regarding our Maltese assets and can assure that Boss Media has the requisite assets in place to ensure that our business will continue to operate with the highest standards. In the extremely unlikely event that any Malta operations would be affected, Boss Media have high-performance back-up systems in place to ensure continued service to all our customers and their players.

I recently collected all the data on which body part should receive the National Golf School Sales Award and a trip for two to any island in the world that does not have a golf course.

The winner by a landslide was the right hand! Coming in a close second was the right shoulder and honorable mention was the left side of the brain.

The Winner
-The right hand wants to take control of the golf swing right from the start through to the finish.
-He does not care who he bullies around to achieve control.
-Charges have been brought against him for choking the club and squeezing the life out it.
-Murder charges for trying to chop, bludgeon and kill the ball are ever pending.
- Refusal to be a team player and follow the lead of the legs, body and left side, have caused grief for thousands of golfers.
The results were thousands of golf lessons for teaching professionals and golf schools.

CLOSE SECOND
-The right shoulder is an accomplice of the right hand and should be held accountable on all charges the right hand receives.
- The right shoulder is the force behind the right hand and wants to and does obliterate any chance of the golf club being pulled with great velocity down and through the ball.
-The right shoulder is the pushiest of body parts in the golf swing and someone should shut him up.
However I would like to personally thank him for is monetary contribution to my golf school lesson volume.

HONORABLE MENTION
-All right I know the left side of the brain is responsible for us reaching the moon, and our worldly successes but give me a break the golf swing is not that complicated.
-I truly enjoy teaching articulate left brain analysts as I enjoy their knowledge on various issues and right brain lessons are quite a bore, but please refrain from over thinking Mr. Left Side of the Brain and be smart enough to focus on the most important issues and not every detail of the swing all at once.
-Once the left side of the brain filters out the unimportant details and focuses on the main factors involved in swinging a golf club he could cost me lessons.

But when it came to bad news, it was hard to beat General Motors Corp. GM not only saw sales slide 26% in July, but it also reported its third-worst earnings in history, losing $15.5 billion in the second quarter.
Overall, it was the eighth straight month of sales declines for the worlds automakers. Although weak sales figures have become commonplace, industry analyst George Magliano at forecasting firm Global Insight contended that it was not simply more of the same,because July is traditionally one of the strongest selling months for the industry, and carmakers have been offering huge incentives in hopes of boosting sales.
July was absolutely horrendous, Magliano said.
Sales of fuel-efficient passenger cars up 0.3% industrywide in July benefited a select few. Nissan Motor Co. was up a surprising 8.5%. Kia Motors Corp. and Subaru both reported gains above 5%.
Honda Motor Co., which has been strong for most of the year, saw a 1.6% setback in July, which it blamed in part on the fact it did not have enough inventory of small cars such as the Civic to meet demand.
As in recent months, most carmakers pointed a finger at high gas prices, slumping consumer confidence and weakness in pickup and SUV sales, coupled with shortages of small cars.
With Julys report they added tighter credit to the list, saying that tens of thousands of customers who would have been eligible for financing a year ago are being turned away today because lenders are being more cautious.
Another new wrinkle:Automakers are taking huge losses when selling large vehicles coming off leases.
GM said Friday that it took a $1.3-billion write-down associated with leasing losses at GMAC, the automakers 49%-held financing arm. The auto and mortgage lender on Thursday reported a $2.5-billion loss in the second quarter as residual values for leased SUVs and trucks plummeted.
And although GM said it would stay in the leasing business, it said it would significantly cut back such financing and raise lease prices, moves also announced by Ford this week. Chrysler said it would get out of leasing altogether.
Brian Allan, general manager of Galpin Motors in North Hills, said he kept dealerships open until after midnight Thursday to offer the last low-cost leases on Jaguars, Volvos and Lincolns to customers rushing to get in before the window closed. We leased 12 Jags last night when normally we only do two per day, he said.

Well, she goes batshit insane again. Hell, she ought to. Her plan could completely unravel if there is ANY question about my paternity. Oh, she's really screaming now. How dare I question her morals. Do I think she's a slut. I'm just trying to weasel out of my responsibilities... blah, blah, blah, yadda, yadda, yadda.

I'm not really mad. I'm kind of embarrassed for her. But since she won't shut up and the neighbors can hear all of this, I ask her to step back inside and sit down. She sits on the sofa and calms down a bit. She is glaring at me with all the moral self-righteousness that only a woman can muster up. She thinks she has me trapped. She is 100% convinced her plan has worked. Oh, the tangled web of lies and deceit she has wrought around herself and I am about to hack through them with a few pieces of paper.

I reach into my pocket slowly. I extract the three pieces of paper and unfold them slowly and deliberately.

I tell her simply, "You're screwed".

Her look doesn't change. There is no way she can fathom what I have prepared.

I continue. "I am sterile"

Her look changes just a bit. Something is beginning to sink in. Naturally, she reverts to women's logic. "You're full of shit. You're trapped and you know it."

I hold up the letter and the test results. "Three months before we met, I had a vasectomy. Here is a notarized letter from him stating what I had done. With denial swept away, she started to cry. It's a small cry at first. Then it becomes deeper and more painful. By the time she gets to the letter from the lawyer she is sobbing.

I had no sympathy for her. I turned and walked out the door. Even after I closed the door I could still hear her sobbing.

Epilogue -

I never heard directly from this woman again. I did hear through my friends that she did indeed have the baby. I also heard that the real father was some guy in a band she had met. I assumed that after 30, women stopped going after musicians, bikers, criminals, and thugs. Silly me for thinking the best of American women.
