Ah, a little mixing of categories here, Glory Daze, Home Boys, Women, and NBA.
Back when I was learning basketball in Pennsylvania, there were a few girls who played with the boys and I loved it. I met a girlfriend or two that way. I dont see many girls out there anymore, maybe there are enough leagues so that they dont play pick-up. Maybe they arent as tough anymore either, not willing to go up against their brothers and male neightbors.
One of the best girls I ever played against was who was from NJ, and went to Pitt. Great driver, passer and rebounder. The best scorer was Maria Fantanarosa, still holds the scoring record in PA, great shooter, good driver, made a lot of easy baskets off steals. Now coaches at Miami of Ohio.
The Storm looks good on paper this year, along with re-signing Sue, they have Lauren, signed Swin and Sheryl: http://www.wnba.com/storm/roster/ A few of us are planning to get a group to a few games this year.

An international sports arbitration panel has overturned a ruling by the International Association of Athletics Federations saying that South African paralympic athlete Oscar Pistorius can't compete in the Beijing Olympics. Pistorius is a double-amputee who runs on artificial legs made of carbon fiber. The International Association of Athletics Federations ruled against Pistorius competing in the Beijing Games in January. Pistorius appealed that decision and the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled that there was insufficient scientific evidence available to ban the prothetics as technical aids. This means he is eligible to compete against able-bodied athletes.

Clark Atlanta finished the 2006-07 season with a 5-22 record, but turned things around in 2007-08 winning 12 more games to finish the season 18-11. Fifth year head coach Vanessa Moore brought in many changes to the roster including adding sensational All SIAC, Shantrell Moss (pictured left), who led the conference in scoring averaging 20.1 points per game. Junior Guard Danielle Walker provided leadership and experience as she averaged 12.8 points per game and led the CAU charge through the SIAC tournament before falling short in the semi-finals. Moss was also named to the SIAC All Tournament team. Their improvement was equivalent to 12.0 games.
In 2006-07, Michelle Clark-Heard of Kentucky State led her team to a 14.0 game turn around to finish second on the list of 34.
To determine games improved, which includes the post season, add the difference in victories between the two season to the difference in losses, then divide by two.

I have a question about a possible ncaa men's basketball recruiting
violation I was hoping to get advice on.

Scenario - Lauren, a single woman, was lovers with a married
(supposedly separated - not divorcing for money reasons) asst.
coach. The coach during the course of the affair, had Lauren contact
a high school recruit's mother, with promise of financial help for an
upcoming wedding. Lauren gave many gifts to the asst. coach such as
track suits, notebook PC and a custom made diamond earring. Lauren
then found out the the 8 month affair had been a sham and the gifts
that had been requested from Lauren were given to college players.
Also, the earring was given to a player. This was confirmed to Lauren
by both the coach and the coach's wife, who knew of the gifts being
given to the players. Also Lauren has heard the coach speak to high
school coaches and worried because the h.s. coach seemed to not be too
discrete about the phone calls - leading Lauren to believe the calls
shouldn't have been made - re: high school players visit to college
campus. Also, coach wanted Lauren to buy a plane ticket for a
recruits girlfriend to go to the campus for a visit - apparantly a pre-
requiste for the recruit to visit...

Lauren believes if the gifts given to the coach are returned - then no
harm no foul - so to speak. However, the coach has refuesed to return
the very expensive earring- presumably unable to return it as it was
given to a player...Now the coach is threatening to send intimate
photos of Lauren to Lauren's entire office...

What should Lauren do?
